Providing Places to Meet and Worship

In October 2005 I visited Rapala, a village in rural Andhra Pradesh near Vijiawada.  This hut on the left, a palm roof with no walls, was just big enough for the speakers (JesPaul, Suresh, and myself) with the church sitting on tarps on either the stone platform or the ground in front (the ground was soft and moist from rain).
In October of 2007 I received news from Suresh that a church has been built on this site (right).
The size of the building is modest, in America it is the size of a typical living room.  Yet in this village where the people are used to crowding and comfortably sit close to each other, without furniture, it easily accomodates the fifty people shown in addition to the speakers (not shown)
Many villages I visited need small church buildings.  The land is often given by a family.  The cost of the building itself is only about $3000 US.  If you are interested in providing a church building where it is needed and where worshipers are now meeting in a palm hut or a mud and wicker building, or even in the mud street under a tree, email me at IndiaVillage@aol.com for more information.
